Rules of thumb
- The mat should be long enough for one full step with each foot.
- The mat should span the full width of the entrance so nobody walks round it.
- Put it at the point where people and trolleys enter, not further along the route.
Common sizes
Mats are commonly sold in inch sizes such as 18 x 36, 24 x 36 and 36 x 45, with 30 or 60 layers per mat. Packs are normally 4 to 10 mats. Check the catalogue for the sizes we hold.
Layers and replacement
- More layers mean more peels before the mat needs replacing.
- Peel the top layer on a set routine, and sooner when it is visibly dirty.
- Replace the whole mat when the layers run out.
Frames
An aluminium frame keeps the mat flat and stops it sliding or curling. It also makes it easy to peel a layer with one hand.
ESD areas
If the entrance leads into an ESD protected area, ask for anti-static mats.
