Cleanroom gloves
Choosing

What to check before you order

  • Choose powder-free gloves for any controlled area.
  • Check size and fit. A glove that is too loose or tight tears or tires the hand.
  • Use ESD gloves where handled parts are static sensitive, and check the resistance value on the datasheet.
  • Check the glove material suits the chemicals it will meet, and avoid latex where people may be allergic.

Questions

Common questions

Nitrile or latex for a cleanroom?

Nitrile is the usual choice. It is free of natural rubber proteins, resists many chemicals and has good puncture resistance. Latex can suit some tasks but not everyone can wear it.

Do I need ESD gloves as well as a wrist strap?

Not always. A wrist strap grounds the person. ESD gloves are used when handled parts need extra protection or where straps are not practical. Follow your ESD programme.

When are finger cots better than gloves?

When you only need to protect one or two fingertips, for example when handling small parts or components with tweezers.
