- Choose a strap that fits snugly against bare skin and is comfortable for a full shift.
- Match the cord end to your grounding point (for example 4 mm or 10 mm snap).
- The cord should have a built-in resistor for safety.
- Test straps on a schedule using a wrist strap tester.
Common questions
How often should wrist straps be tested?
Many sites test daily or at the start of each shift. Your ESD control programme sets the exact interval.
Why does the cord have a resistor?
It limits current if the cord touches a live source, and it also controls how quickly charge leaves the person.
