Cleanroom gloves and finger cots: how to choose

The best glove balances cleanliness, comfort, chemical resistance and cost. Finger cots do the same job for fine work on a smaller scale.

Five questions to ask

  1. Which cleanroom class are the gloves for?
  2. Do you need sterile gloves, or are non-sterile fine?
  3. What chemicals will they meet?
  4. Do you need low static for electronics work?
  5. What length and thickness suits the task?

Finger cots

A finger cot covers one finger. Use it for picking up small parts, working on boards or handling optics where a full glove is not needed. Choose powder-free cots, and ESD types for electronics.

Fit and comfort matter. Run a short trial in your own area before you change gloves.
